type='text'>Amazing, the posts are becoming semi-annual now?!

Hey family and friends! Yeahhh, so with the months going by, Emily is getting less and less on the ball with doing her updates. But I digress, let's get down to brass tacks and get to the good stuff...

So since NOVEMBER, (Geeze,) I have obviously been doing a lot. Still doing background work and Babysitting AND, I joined the Actor's Union AFTRA. WHOOO! That translates into more money per job, but probably less jobs total. Sooo, we'll see how God uses that one. Now I just need to join SAG and I will be a completely serious actor to those who know what's what. Anyone got 2500 dollars lying around? No? Funny, me either.

On the good side also, my great friend DJ Brady has finished helping to edit my reel of work so now I can send it out to agents and managers and hopefully snag someone who would LOVE to represent me. (A first reel is never your best stuff, but it's SOMETHING.)

I have missed my family since seeing them at Christmas when I drove up, but since Easter is now right around the corner, I will be catching a flight tomorrow to go see them. I am SOOOO EXCITED I MUST WRITE THIS IN ALL CAPS!!! I have plans for seeing a movie, maybe archery, maybe shooting range, maybe aquarium and rock climbing, (we'll see how much I can squeeze into four days.)

I have gotten to work on some fun projects. "Water for Elephants" is coming out when I'm home and I worked on that so we are all going to go see it. I am super excited. And speaking of "Super" I can finally reveal that the movie I worked on is called, "Super 8" with JJ Abrams and Steven Speilberg. I KNOW RIGHT?? I was so excited to work on it and JJ once talked to me. It was surreal but very fun and cool. I wanted to be all like, "So you need anyone for the next Star Trek movie?? Because I would love to volunteer." :)

Other than that, I have been hanging out with friends, working, and teaching myself how to play guitar. That's correct....Guitar. I love playing any instrument and one of my goals was to learn guitar so I can accompany myself when I sing. It helps me destress which is so helpful because living on a shoestring is very stress inducing.

Let's see...what else, what else? I have found a new Bible Study through a great church called Reality LA. I've gone to the church too and its great, but the sermons are Looooong. They meet at a school auditorium which I love because its where GLEE films when they do the courtyard scenes so I have dubbed the church "The Church of GLEE." But anyway, the bible study is great, we're currently studying Mark. Other than that, not much more to report. But it is NOW time for.....

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FAMOUS SIGHTINGS - (warning: lot of time has passed so this will be looong)

1. The cast of How I Met Your Mother - Don't remember if I mentioned this one already but I called in last minute to do background on HIMYM and saw the whole cast including Jason Segel, from Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Alison Hannigan, ("Willow" from Buffy) and of course my all time favorite, Mr. NPH (Neil Patrick Harris). I freely admit I might have silently freaked out a little when I saw him.

2. Kyle Chandler - Known as the main guy from "Early Edition" and the coach on "Friday Night Lights" and as the bomb expert on that crazy "Grey's Anatomy" episode, this guy makes an appearance in "Super 8" along with...

3. David Gallagher - Mr. Blondie from 7th Heaven also makes an appearance on "Super 8". His hair is longer and he looks very hippyish, (which makes sense, it takes place I THINK in the 60's or 70's)

4. Larry David and the Cast of Curb Your Enthusiasm - Along with Mr. David, I saw the lady who played "Janice" on Friends and Paolo from Princess Diaries and the dad from 10 Things I Hate About You.

7. The Cast of Community - Joel McHale and Ken Jeong were on set when I did background for the Valentine's Day episode on Community. My biggest featured role doing background to date and I was surprised how many people noticed and recognized me after they watched the episode. WEIRD.

8. Mario Lopez - Now the host of "Extras", I saw and said hi to Mr. Saved By the Bell guy when I worked on his show.

9. Adam Sandler - Main Star on his movie "Jack and Jill", Adam must be one busy guy with all these movies he's doing.

10. Johnny Depp - Saw Mr. Depp sitting with Al Pacino in the movie Jack and Jill, though I think he's just playing himself.

11. Al Pacino - great actor, I was lucky enough to get to see this guy perform on stage for the movie. Just in case though, I don't want to give too many details, you never know when the TV/Movie people will get mad about spilling deets on their projects.

12. Amy Adams - Saw her and Mr. Forgetting Sarah Marshall guy on "The Muppet Movie" that is coming out. My favorite part? Watching the puppeteers do so amazing that even though I see them, I think the puppets are the one's that are alive.

13. Anna Paquin - Got to work on True Blood and was so psyched, but while I saw the lovely Miss Paquin (or technically Mrs. Moyer?) I didn't get to see any of the majorly hot guys who work on the show. SIIIIIGGGHH. I will get to see Eric and Sam someday.

14. Zach Gilford - You may know him as the plucky quarterback from "Friday Night Lights," or the Boy Doc on "Off the Map", this guy is now doing a new Pilot. Hope that doesn't mean Off the Map is cancelled!

15. Kerry Bishe - known probably for being the new main character on the final season of Scrubs, I saw Kerry working on a TV pilot called, "Iceland"

16. Matt Damon - YES! Whoo-hoo, saw Mr. Damon with longer wavy hair on this great new movie called, "We Bought a Zoo," with his cute co-star...

17. Scarlett Johansson - She stole my shorter haircut and it looks great on her. I had fun on this shoot seeing many fun animals like monkeys, owls, peacocks, otters, zebras, ostriches, and camels.

18. Thomas Hayden Church - probably known more recently for being "Sandman" on Spiderman 3, I saw this guy on "We Bought a Zoo" too.

Just assume I saw the whole cast for WBAZ because my fingers are tired now.

That's all she wrote for now, love to my family and friends who care enough to read this! HUGS

Ok, it's My BIRTHDAY MONTH! (but the lack of updates is just getting sad.)

Hello all! My birthday is in less than a week and happy birthday to all other November babies!

So not to sound too self-obsessed, but let's talk about me. (update-wise of course.)

Since my last post, there have been a lot of ups and downs. One down is that Chilis fired me for basically working too much. Yea for them. No big loss but I will miss the paychecks and some of my fellow servers. A moment to grieve...

Money is tight as always and right now a little more scarce than usual but I am holding on by my fingernails and I won't give up. I am doing background and babysitting and actually a lot of background so when we get down to the famous sightings, I think you'll be in for a real treat.

I am currently trying to wrastle me a theatrical agent and my PR friend Dennis is helping me get all my stuff in order. I could really use some prayer for that if anyone has some room in their talks with Jesus. I am super excited to see my family for Thanksgiving and am trying to figure out what to do for my birthday when I have no money. I have been fiddling with the idea of going to this indoor gun range that we did background at one day. (And now my mom has had a heart attack and is crying.) Sorry mom! :) She doesn't like guns.

In other news, I was able to go to Disneyland for the Halloween time with my friends Debra, Andrea, and Jen. It was super fun and we had a BLAST! Seeing Disneyland dressed up for a certain holiday was awesome with the characters all made of pumpkins and fall foliage and decorations abounded. We were lucky to see the show "World of Color" and I don't mind admitting that I found it magical and breath-taking. The only downer of the day was the heat and the fact that the Toy Story ride was closed. Mehh!

For Halloween, I chose to be Hermione Granger from Harry Potter. I had a wand and a Gryffindor patch and a tie and even a book I made to look like "Hogwarts, A History." I carried that book around and stuck my head in it as often as possible to give everyone a hint that I was NOT Harry Potter. (I mean COME ON, no glasses, no lightening scar, has anyone READ the books?) I also carved a super cool butterfly pumpkin jack-o-lantern. Did anyone know that people carved faces into pumpkins to scare away the goblins? Fun Fact.

I am excited that it worked out that I am Hermione for Halloween because since the 7th Harry Potter Movie is coming out in a couple weeks, I can wear my outfit to the 12 o clock screening if I choose to. Cool, baby yeaaaa.

No other big news of note right now. I am scheduled to work on this big hush hush movie that made me sign a non-disclosure agreement. No idea what it is though and I couldn't put it on here even if I did know.

SO NOW IT IS TIME FOR..................

FAMOUS SIGHTINGS!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luke Wilson - Yea, from "Home Fries" to crazy chicks, this guy is playing with Laura Dern on the new HBO show called, "Enlightened" Saw him and Laura working background on their show.

Laura Dern - Hello Jurassic Park Lady, haven't seen you in awhile and she is the main character on the new HBO show called, "Enlightened."

Aimee Teegarden - best known as the coach's daughter on "Friday Night Lights," I saw Aimee when I was doing background on a Diseny movie called, "The Prom."

Maura Tierney - This lady from ER who has been fighting breast cancer is now a lead on the new show, "The Whole Truth" and I saw her doing background for her in an indoor gun range. (Sorry mom.)

Eamonn Walker - Mr. I-was-on-LOST-as-a-man-of-God-who-got-blown-up-with-my-staff, is now also on "The Whole Truth."

Eddie Cahill - Hello Cutie from Friends who played "Tag", I saw this guy working on his show "CSI:NY" with the next guy listed below. He's cuter without the harsh new york accent though.

Gary Sinise - AHH! Lieutenant Dan! I finally saw him on "CSI:NY". In fact the guy stood right next to me while his make-up lady touched him up.

David Caruso - It seems to be CSI month because Mr. Horatio from CSI:Miami brushed right be me and my friends and said, "Excuse me Ladies," when he had to get into position behind the bar for their 200th episode which I worked on.

Adam Rodriguez - I think this guy plays Eddie? on CSI:Miami. Whatever, the other main younger hispanic guy and he was also on set.

Dante Basco - Can you say RUFIOOOOOOO!! This guy we all know and love from Hook hasn't aged a day and is a guest star on the 200th CSI:Miami episode. He's kind-of short too but seems friendly. I got to see him get flung to the ground.

Justin Timberlake - Yes, the day after the VMA's I worked on his new movie, "Friends with Benefits." Passed right in front of Justin for the airport scene. When someone asked Justin if he had had fun at the VMA's he replied, ".....I had fun after."

Mila Kunis - She is the co-star of "Friends with Benefits" saw her doing background on the movie.

Sean White - Yes, Mr. I-have-two-gold-snowboarding-medals is doing a guest appearance on Justin's "Friends with Benefits" movie. I mistook him for a girl twice from behind because he is somewhat short and trim, with gorgeous red curly locks. And he was totally wearing my exact same black jeans. Weird.

Brad Pitt - That's right ladies. I worked on Brad's "Moneyball" movie and got to walk through the airport terminal with him. Very surreal for me since he is one of the biggies. It was kind-of like I didn't even believe he really existed outside cinema.

Eliza Coupe - You might know her from the later seasons of Scrubs. She is now doing the new show which is rumored to be the next "Friends" called "Happy Endings" NO, it is not what the title might infer and YES there have been many jokes made about it already.

Mark-Paul Gosselaar - I worked on this new TNT lawyer show with Mr. Zach Morris from saved by the bell with his now short brown hair.

Breckin Meyer - I LOVE this guy! He played Kate's brother in Kate and Leopold and Travis from Clueless and he and Mark are laywers in the new TNT show "Franklin and Bash"

Chris Colfer - Kurt from GLEE. Saw him get taught a lesson about being gay and being bullied by Mr. Harry Potter Musical Guy.

Mark Salling - Puck from GLEE played Bob Marley in the Quad while I gave him money and danced with other kids. Should be seen this next Tuesday.

Kevin McHale - Artie from GLEE let me help cover him from the rain with my umbrella while we filmed the Quad scene.

WHEW! That's all for now guys, miss you and hugs to everyone!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://emilymarshse-blogg.blogspot.com/2010/11/ok-its-my-birthday-month-but-lack-of.html' title='Ok, it's My BIRTHDAY MONTH! SO! Let's get down to the main brushstrokes.

The car eventually did get fixed and my little Tom Servo car is doing just fine. He is actually about to be majorly featured on GLEE as Mercedes and the Cheerios sing in front of him! (I even got a bumper sticker for the school which went to Sarah. Don't worry Liz, the next swag I get will be yours.)

I have been doing babysitting and background work to make ends meet on my bills until just recently when I finally got hired by Chili's to be a server. So yeah, praise Jesus there, and here's hoping I get lots of tips! In February I got a welcome vacation with the fam to the warm isles of Hawaii! I had so much fun and sun and snorkling, that I really didn't want to come back. Just to give you a teaser of all I did, there was ziplining, horseback riding, kayaking, swimming with turtles, and snorkling with amazing colored reefs. YEAHHHHHH

More recently, I have just gotten cast to do background on a new movie called, "Water for Elephants." I got to go to a fitting today at 8 AM (BLEH) but it's a period movie so I got to get dressed in cool clothes. :) I will get to interact with Reese Witherspoon, Robert Pattenson, and the guy who won Best Supporting Actor in Inglorious Bastards. (Insert Name Here.)

In other news, my Bible Study is studying about Prayer which is intense. This is no mere leaflet we're slogging through. But it's very interesting.

SO!, We've covered job, church, and... AHH! Friends. So I have two friends who are engaged to get married so that is very exciting for them.

In future upcoming events my parents are coming down to LA to see me in the beginning of June and I am super excited. We are going to go see Iron Man 2 and maybe go to the 3 floor Forever 21 to shop? Here's Hoping.

AND NOW, it's time for..........

SIGHTINGS AND NEAR SIGHTINGS------------------------------------------------

SIGHTINGS

-----------------------------------

Rob Lowe - Yes Ladies, Mr. Blue Eyes was guest starring as the love interest for Rashida Jones on Parks and Recreation.

The Rest of the Cast of GLEE - I saw Mercedes and Kurt do an awesome rendition of "Got 4 Minutes to Save the World" and saw Puck get thrown into a trash can, Mohawkless. I even saw Mr. Morrison/Mr. Shuester and I am sure Sarah is a leetle jealous.

Tom Cavanagh - From "Ed" to a new pilot called "Edgar Floats" I saw Tom and was like a foot away from him in this fun diner scene.

Kathy Bates - On the set of another Pilot called, "Kindreds", I shared a make-up trailer with Miss Kathy Bates. Awesome.

The Cast of "Cougar Town" including Courtney Cox - This day was sweet because I got to see Ian Gomez, "You've got to take out the little gifts," and I also ate it on the concrete right in front of Courtney on her go-cart. I like to make an impression.

Jeff Probst - I think that is how you spell it. I saw Mr. Survivor Host on my hiking trail. I just wanted to go up to him and say, "The tribe has spoken, My sister Sarah thinks you're awesome."

The Cast of NCIS LA , Including Mr. Chris O'Donnel, LL Cool J, and the cute psychologist - I had fun, and this was the first time the background was only like 15 people. Sweet! It made me feel very special. Of course, the crazy amount of candy I confiscated was awesome and bad at the same time.

Joe and Nick Jonas - This was a complete surprise, I was booked on "Jonas" under a fake name, (I'm assuming because of the crazy fans.) So I had no idea I was booked on this show. It was fun to work on this show though, and I must say seeing Nick Jonas being extremely gracious with his fans when they discovered the brothers on the set and followed them back to the building was a breath of fresh air to witness. Go you guys!

Hope you enjoyed! Gotta go for now, but Lord willing, I will update this a little sooner next time.

New Year, New Blogg...LOTS to catch up on.

Hey guys! So its a new year and that means new starts, new parts, and new opportunities. I am back down in LA, (after a wonderful and welcoming car accident 20 minutes before I got home, YEA LA.) I am fine physically, but financially, God's going to have his work cut out for him to provide the money for the repairs.

I also want to give you a quick update on life at the end of '09. My job at CBS was dissolved, (it was supposed to be temporary anyway but I am sure it probably had something to do with that co-worker problem I had just had.) Oh well, I am poorer but much happier doing background work right now. I have joined a casting service, "Joey's List" which submits for me so I don't have to be calling in every day for work and because of it, I have gotten to work some fun shows such as: NCIS LA, Miami Medical, and 90210. I got myself Grey's Anatomy too! NE who, money is tight but I am trusting God to provide what I need.

In other fun past news, thanks to my sister Sarah, I got to meet most of the Cast from Glee! I got a couple cd's signed by the cast, (although it was just the kids and they were missing Mercedes and Rachel.) But I did get to meet: Kurt, Puck, Artie, Tina, and Finn. It was very fun and Puck was sans mohawk for those who want to know. They all seemed extremely nice and friendly and Kurt was very touched when I told him how much I had loved his and Rachel's version of "Defying Gravity". Puck *ahem* by the way, was way cuter in person than I thought so I am a slightly bigger fan of him now. (Not that I wasn't before, but you get it.) SO! That was fun, sitting in long lines very early in the morning aside.

For Thanksgiving, I got sick, (thanks Cousin Jeremy!) and that wasn't so fun but when I went home for Christmas, I made up for the lost time with trips to the movies with the Fam, good food, too much cookies and chocolate, (whoops Weight Watchers!) and Sister/Parent bonding time. It's always good for me to fill up on the ol' tank of love from my loved ones. I even got to see a couple of my friends while I was home.

As for some good movies, we saw , AVATAR!!! (Awesome!! you MUST see in 3-D,) Sherlock Holmes, (Decent!) Princess and the Frog, (Cute,) and Up in the Air, (Poignant and a very good snapshot of America right now.)

As to future happenings I am really looking forward to Hawaii with the family in exactly one month from today! What fun we're gonna have. I plan to bike and swim and sun myself, all in February. Ahhh, good times.

As for the acting, I am still on the prowl for a good theatrical agent or manager. Bleh, but I have a plan and as soon as I can get my printer fixed, that plan will go into action. In the meantime, I am submitting myself for anything online I can do and I just finished taping a short webisode for a group called, "panic shower". Pilot season is coming up but I could take a lot more advantage of that if I had someone who could submit me for them. :)

It's ok, times are in a bit of an upheaval right now, but God is always working and I just have to focus on the big picture and on him and just plug away, doing the best I can. He will do the rest.

In other news, no guys on the horizon to speak of as of now but my friends and I are slowly getting back together after the break which is always a relief. I already miss my family but with our trip coming up, I won't have to wait long to see them again.

OK Y'ALL, this time it's a doozy...it's time for.....

FAMOUS SIGHTINGS AND ALMOST SIGHTINGS

------------------------------------------------------------------

1. The Cast of Glee - (minus Mercedes and Rachel as stated above, and may I say, all the boys on that show are very fun and cute.)

2. The Cast of 90210 - The new version of course. I was working the most harrowing night of background ever but I did get to see every single member of that show and Liam especially, is *ahem* very talented?

3. The Cast of NCIS LA - not everyone but I DID see: L.L. Cool J, Chris O' Donnell, The woman who plays "Makensie" and the man who plays "Eric". This was one of the funnest shoots I was ever a part of, there was action going on galore. :)

4. Aaron Eckhart - (I hope I spelled that right) I was working on this new movie coming out called "Battlestar LA" and Mr. Eckhart was there dressed to the nines in full Marine regalia for I believe some DVD extra footage and interviews. I might've gotten a little excited to see him when I hadn't been expecting to, but I thankfully remained calm and my serene exterior gave nothing away. He is also *ahem* very talented.

5. Mc Steamy, Callie, daughter Sloan, and Lexie on "Grey's Anatomy" - worked background with these guys and it was very fun. Lexie goes blonde! She still looks great which makes me a little jealous but it's fine. Eric, (Mc Steamy's real name,) is a pretty funny guy, cracking jokes a lot and seems very into football and car racing.

I am sure there are some I've forgotten, but that should hold you guys for awhile.

I just want to encourage EVERYONE to believe in the positive opportunities that await us in the NEW YEAR of 2010 and to go and live life with zest and joy because that is the gift that God gives us if we choose to take advantage of it.

Love to all my family and friends!

August and Summer have FLOWN by...

Hey Everyone, so another month has come and gone, (technically, it's already September but SHHHHHH! No one has to realize that.)

Ok, let's get down to business. Life has been incredibly busy lately for me and full of upheaval. I am currently looking for a new job, either within CBS or somewhere else. (I had a problem with a co-worker and now work is just a stressful place to be.) I don't when this change will come, but that's God's business, not mine. :)

In other news, my Puppet Play finished and it was fun! I got to wear these crazy blue fake feather eyelashes a friend of mine lent me and it was great! I kind-of looked like Joker's girlfriend but nicer.

Praise God I have gotten a hold of a theatrical agent, Doug Bennett of the Don Gerler Agency and soon I will hopefully be submitted for tv and film! Whoo-hoo! Let's PLEASE pray that he gets and LIKES my new headshots and feels motivated to put me out there.

I am on my way TODAY as a matter of fact to see my family up in Mount Hermon for the extended Labor Day Weekend, and I am super excited. I need a break and my fam around me. It gets tough here in LA with all this craziness and traffic and competition, mixed with a threatening feeling of lonliness sometimes, so thank you Jesus I have some friends.

In other current news, I went to Disneyland for a friend's birthday two weekends ago and we had a great time! I got to see Fantansmic and the light/fireworks show and the Aladdin show. (The Genie in this version might be the best one I have EVER seen! He was flippin' incredible.)
Despite the food posioning I got when we returned home, it was a nice trip. (Don't worry, the food that caused it had not been at Disneyland. They actually sell fruit and healthy stuff there on carts now.) And random, but is it weird, that I never knew there was a Snow White Ride before?

I am looking forward to this season in my life, because I really feel that God is going to be progressing my acting career this year. I feel like if he doesn't things just won't be any good and I have this anticipation all of a sudden. I want to grow and be a professional actor and hopefully, now, I can make some headway there.

Please pray that this happens and that God will present me with some money and opportunities in acting because I really feel like I need that encouragement right now.

AND NOW!!!....................

FAMOUS SIGHTINGS AND ALMOST SIGHTINGS

-----------------------------------------------------

SIGHTINGS...

All right so this time, the sightings are most exciting for all you soap fans since I keep running into them here at CBS.

Ronn Moss - plays "Ridge Forrestor" on The Bold and the Beautiful

Kristoff St. John - plays "Neil Winters" on The Young and the Restless

Bryton - (seriously, like "Madonna" I guess.) Plays "Devon Hamilton Winters" on the Young and the Restless

Peter Bergman - plays "Jack Abbott" on The Young and the Restless.

ALMOST SIGHTINGS

No one I can recall but again, I always feel like I am forgetting someone. : )

That's all I got for August guys, maybe for September, I will remember to write it before the month actually ends.

June and July are Rushing on by...

Hey family and friends!

So yeah, it's been awhile and due to the urging of my sister, I am making sure to catch everyone up on my doings.

Since I last wrote a TON has happened.

Still working at CBS, that hasn't changed, but what HAS changed is that the musical I was in is now finished and I am in a NEW play called, "The Wind-Up Puppet Show." It was written to be an adult puppet show, but is actually so cute and enchanting that kids adore it too. I play a marionette, (one of many marionettes and wind up toys,) that live in a workshop where our maker dies and in so doing, gives us of himself and we magically come to life. The whole play is done with no dialogue from us and instead is dictated by beautiful music and a God-like narrator at times. I love doing it and it is scheduled to start I believe the beginning of August or the end of July.

In Other news, I am doing a Bible Study on Ester right now that is awesome: Someone in the film or TV biz needs to do this study and then make a series or movie on it because there is just SO Much there you don't realize and it's scripting GOLD.

I have been trying lately to snag myself a Theatrical agent since I am already Commercially represented, and I really feel genuinely that it is going to occur soon.

I actually have met with one agency about a week ago and today I am meeting with another, and I am trying to utilize my friends to get more chances as well. PRAY that I find the right place and soon.

In Commercial news, I have not been sent out a lot since March and April but I am hoping things will pick up soon because Lord and y'all know, I need the dough.

No Boy news as of now, but I am always appreciative of the great guy-candy selection at my church and I am hoping now that my Bible Study friends are starting to pair up along with the warming weather, that God may have something great in store for little ol' me.

OK! That is good for now, IT'S TIME FOR...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FAMOUS PEOPLE SIGHTINGS AND NEAR SIGHTINGS

SIGHTINGS:

Cedric the Entertainer - I saw him driving along me in his car one day coming home from work. I was VERY surprised that I even recognized him since he's not someone I usually think of.

Castro - From American Idol's Season before last, This dredded crooner comes to Bel Air Pres and hangs out from time to time. I hope this means he isn't smoking weed anymore as I believe has been atributed to him in the past. And side note, I personally think he would look better with significantly shorter hair.

ALMOST/MAYBE SIGHTINGS:

Anna Pacquin - There is a site that I believe "True Blood" uses for the bar/restaurant scenes, and I thought I saw Anna come out of one of the houses and into her car. I really wish I could be sure, because she is one of my favorite actresses.

I am sure there were one of two others but I don't have my journal on me, so it will have to wait until my next blogg to be complete.

HUGS and Love to all!

May is Busting Up All Over!

Hello Family and Friends of mine,

So this Blogg is a little late coming on the END of May rather than near the beginning but I have had very little free time so ehh, I'm sorry.

Since Easter, things as CBS have been going well. I actually got an offer for a maybe job offer within CBS so I am going to be checking into my options for that. I mean, if I get benefits and they are cool with my hours being flexible, you never know.

For this month, since not a whole lot of crazy happened besides me being in a new world premiere musical called, "A Little Bit of Broadway," I thought I would copy and paste some fun facebook "get-to-know-me" surveys instead.

Before I do though, I'll briefly mention the Musical. I played one of the lead roles, a character named Helen and the premise was that this famous old songwriter (of the days of Sonheim, and Irving Berlin, etc.) dies and in his will he leaves all his money and music to us 5 actors if we will take his stuff and make a musical for Broadway out of it. While we go through his music, we participate in flashbacks and historic events while we deal with our own issues. It was pretty decent but we had had a HUGE time crunch and it was a lot of LONG hours. It helped that I really liked my cast, (even though at the beginning I found out we had had to re-cast like 3 times.)

Ok, so back to the copy/paste survey stuff: ENJOY!

I'm making my own survey and you all better do it because the questions aren't lame.
Share
Wed 12:19pm Edit Note Delete
1. Favorite Ben & Jerry's flavor?
Fudge Brownie, all the way BABY! ( I mean actual bits of brownie in chocolate? Every girl's dream)

2. If you could be any literary character, who would you be?
Hermione Granger. It's perfect. You got your regular muggle life when you're not at school, and then I get to be a brilliant witch with great friends, a couple boyfriends, and a time traveling hourglass. SWEET

3. Who's been more innovative for modern television: J.J. Abrams or Joss Whedon?
Joss Whedon hands down. If we're talking different and innovation, um, hello? Buffy, Dollhouse, Firefly, Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-long blog? As much as I adore J.J. Abrams and firmly believe he is very talented, he always works on the edge of the possible. Maybe LOST excepted but that idea stems back to every "What would you do on a deserted island" question. Joss spins into the strange and amazing. His Buffy Musical which caused every other network to copy him? His Buffy episode where no one could talk got him an emmy nomination. (And actually, so did the musical episode.) Seriously...

4. Where's one place you have no desire to visit?
Antartica. Penguins or no penguins

5. Best roller coaster you've ever been on?
Thunder Mountain, ahh, the classics.

6. Strangest flavor of soda you've ever tried?
Um, root beer. Sorry guys, I hate it.

7. If you were a highlighter, what color would you be?
Classic Yellow, it's the best for a REASON and really catches the eye.

8. What's the most recent song you downloaded?
"The Sound of Silence" by Simon and Garfunkel. I heard it when I went to see the Watchmen and I forgot how much that song ROCKS! I mean the tones are so full and pure and its just a different kind of music than most now-a-days.

9. Have you seen any episodes of "Planet Earth?"
YES, seen them all. My dad got them for his birthday awhile ago and I believe he still hasn't quite seen them all but I have. My favorite? The jumping black tropical bird with blue eyes that looks like an oil spot when he is trying to attract a female. ( - - ) <---that is what he basically looks like then.

10. What's your favorite made-up word, and where is it from?
"Fluffernutter." I'm not sure who came up with it originally, but I remember hearing it on "Mystery Science Theater 3000 - Mitchell." The best movie ever.

11. Which Beatles song most accurately describes your life right now?
A Hard Day's Night. I HAVE been working like a dog. Do you own a George Foreman grill, and if so do you "knock out the fat!"?
Yes, I do. Um, I guess I do. Isn't that the point of the grill?

16. Favorite X-Man?
Storm. Come on, kick butt name, and you can control the only thing man can't control. The possibilities are awesome and pretty much endless.

17. What's the worst movie you've seen in the last month?
I don't have money, so going to see a bad movie is out of the question. How about a bad movie that I DIDN'T go see? What's a skill you wish you had?
Speaking any language including Sign and Braile. I only know 3 languages so far. And you start to lose them if you don't use them a lot.

22. Staples or Office Max: which is better and why?
Office Max. Staples are painful.

23. Name one fact you remember from high school, but you no longer use:
Electrons lend themselves to each other in order to create stable elements. That makes them "happy electrons." (We would draw a smilie face on the electron when it was stable.)

24. What was the last "freebie" you took from a store, restaurant, or place of business?
I guess it would be a couple free days working out at the YMCA when they needed some paperwork to renew my membership. What's your favorite board game?
Oodles.

32. Thoughts on the E*Trade talking baby?
He is hilarious and cute. I love him.

33. What color are your bedroom walls?
White because I have pictures of my favorite pieces of art all over them and white makes a good connecting canvas.

34. If you were given 1,000 shares of any company, which company would you go with?
Coke? McDonalds? Apple? Any company that is closed to buyers because it is doing so well.

35. Name a book of the Bible. Any book. Go.
Amos. No, wait, Philemon. Yum!

40. What political figure would you invite over to dinner, past or present?
FDR, I would want to know his views on our economy now and how we should get out of it. Now I know that was a lot to read but if you are up for it...It's time for...

FAMOUS SIGHTINGS AND ALMOST SIGHTINGS

SIGHTINGS:
----------------

Sonya Walger - AKA "Penny" from LOST - She was at Bel Air Pres two weekends ago. I couldn't help but think though, while he is a good-looking guy, he reminded me a tad of a fish around the eyes area. But maybe I am on crack.

NEAR SIGHTINGS:
------------------------

I feel like I did have one but I cannot remember right now sorry! I know my little blog is competing in our family with my sister Amy's blog dedicated to her new little son Judah. I am sure I am losing in this battle, but I promised to keep you guys updated and so here we go...

WOW! Lots of stuff has occurred in a month. Firstly, I decided to GO. TO. THE. AMERICA'S. NEXT. TOP. MODEL. AUDITIONS. after all. I kept dreaming about it, and I wanted the cool story that was sure to come along with it, so I caved. It was actually REALLY FUN!

I got up relatively early for a Saturday and got all dolled up. I had thought everything out so I had my 17 page application, (yeah you heard me right,) my comfy shoes to wait in line in, (you wouldn't believe the lack of foresight of some of these girls,) and some snacks and my book.

I ended making friends in line though, so I didn't need the book, but I must say it was the prettiest line of ladies I had seen a long time all together. I thought it was funny that occasionally some guys would walk by and we were all thinking that they had heard about the auditions and had come to try and pick up some girls. If so, those guys are brilliant.

The line went pretty fast so I got through in a relatively short time. We went through security, got a number, a stamp, and a wristband, and were seated in this stadium. We were then cattled through to the ground stage where a camera man video taped us doing our "walks" that apparently Tyra was going to watch. Then, we were lined up according to our numbers in groups and were told to recite our name, ages, height, and weight.

However, what we said didn't really matter since they were using this time to write notes about us and whisper to each other. The people they wrote something down for usually were the ones who were called through to the next round but not always.

Here comes the funny part of my story. The guy DID write stuff down when I was up but when they called out the numbers of who was advancing, I had been congratulating the girl just in front of me who had made it, (I had called it that she would.) So I didn't hear if they called my number or not and they had said they were only going to call a number once and to please not come up to them at the table afterwards. SO, I just assumed my number hadn't been called and said goodbye to my friends.

The cool thing was that the floor of the stadium had a walkway barred off for us to exit out of and it looked like a runway to me. When we had been seating up in the stands, we could watch all the girls walk across it and we would giggle because it was like these girls didn't even realize that they were like on a catwalk. So when my friends and I finished, we were all like, "Ready girls? OK!" and we strutted right out of that stadium like we were pros.

It was a fun experience for me and I am glad I did it. They had even had news cameras from like "E" and "The Tonight Show" interviewing us while we had waited in line.

In other news, I am going to be in a student film tomorrow with this scottish director and I also got a lead in this brand new debuting musical that is really good! My character's name is Helen and we are supposed to have Steven Schwartz and some other high mucky mucks to come see us perform. Our director says if the right people see us, it could go to Broadway but at this point, I just want to do a good job so I am not holding my breath.

Other than that, I got to go home for Easter and see the fam, (bitter sweet as usual) and now my parents are off in Ethiopia on a medical mission trip, while my mission trip to Ireland is looking less and less likely because of work.

ALRIGHT PEOPLE...IT'S TIME FOR....

FAMOUS PEOPLE SIGHTINGS AND NEAR SIGHTINGS

---------------------------------------------------------------

Famous People Sightings

Giovonnie Samuels -
(AKA Nia Moseby on the Suite Life of Zack and Cody.) I saw her at the
America's Next Top Model auditions and I was like, "Girl, come on, you already have your own TV Show, they can't cast you on this."

Neal McDonough -
(AKA Dave Williams on Desperate Housewives). I saw Mr. Edie's Husband on Sunset walking down the street with all the tourists maybe heading to dinner, I dunno. But those very pink cheeks are not blush, they're just him.

Kirsten Storms -
(AKA Zenon from Disney channel and She's Belle or WAS on a soap recently) I ran into her almost literally when I went to a free Pre-Screening of "The Soloist" at the Arc Light in Sherman Oaks. She seemed in a big hurry as she was rushing out of the women's bathroom, and my friend and I were joking the maybe she was afraid of being recognized. (But I'm all like, "Really?)

NEAR MISSES

Yes, there is one this time and its my own fault because I knew when and where this guy would be and I didn't go see him.

Hugh Jackman - Yes ladies, I know you are all angry at me but he was getting his Star on the walk and I didn't walk over to see him. I deserve all bad comments. Does anyone else think the man is just too perfect?

My love to all my family and friends and I hope everyone is doing amazing.

Lots of Love!

Marsh Madness (WhOops, I mean March Madness)

Hellooo to my 3 devoted family fans.

Yeah, so it's March and the whole basketball "March Madness" thing describes my life really well right now. (Not the basketball part, but the madness part.)

Life right now has kicked into an even higher gear for me on a daily basis, which until now, I didn't believe was possible. I live to be wrong! CBS has given me even more work to do since a fellow co-worker had to go in for a surgery and so I am taking over doing her Judge Joe and Judge Judy shows along with all my other stuff. Am I earning my 12 dollars an hour with no benefits or WHAT?

On the Positive Acting Side, I just this last week had 4 auditions for high end commercials like: Denny's, Jeep, and McDonalds! Whoo-hoo! The problem is, that I didn't book any of them. Yes, I know...Boo. The funny thing is, I thought I had a call back for the McDonald's one: it turns out I was double-booked and it was not a callback after all. Sad, but a little funny. I can admit it.

It still bodes well for me though, because that means its only a matter of time. Plus! This led to me seeing two new famous people for my "famous people sightings" paragraph, (see below later)

On the film side, I had a CALLBACK for a SAG short film called, "Mushroom Hunt." And no, it has nothing to do with drugs or Mario Brothers, Ha, Ha, you guys.

In other news, on the braces front, the good news is that I don't HAVE to do anything to my teeth, (although my ortho guy gave me a couple options of things I could do to improve my teeth.) But it's fine because I can make changes anytime I want and plus, I have no money to do anything, so I have a great and conveinient excuse. :)

My Bible Study is going strong, in fact, we have started our Lent Series and it was hosted at my house last Sunday. Whoo-hoo! I handed out enough pretzels and mixed nuts for everyone.

On the bad side of life, (Yes, it does occasionally happen,) The boy I like, I am PRETTY SURE is dating or is about to start dating this really great girl that sits with us all in Church...
Boo-Hiss-Boo.

Ehh, Oh well, THAT kind of occurence, unfortunately, I am used to.

I am also juggling an Acting Workshop with the lady that casts "Burn Notice" but it was kind-of false advertising since they shoot in Miami and it usually only uses local hires. (For those of you who don't speak Acting-eese, that means they mostly pull actors in the area that they shoot at, not from those of us who live in LA.) But still, practice and networking can be accomplished all the same.

On a fun note, I gave some serious thought to trying out for "America's Next Top Model" for fun since this next cycle is for girls 5'7 and under...THAT'S ME! And I figured for the commercial and other acting-esk stuff, I would kick all the other girl's butts if I got on. Plus, who doesn't want a free make-over? But I THINK I have decided I won't because I don't think my body is quite where it should be tummy-wise. Ehh, but I have been waffling on that so I will keep you posted if I change my mind. They have an open call here in LA on the 28th of March.

SO! I belive it is time for...

FAMOUS PEOPLE SIGHTINGS AND NEAR FAMOUS PEOPLE SIGHTINGS
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Famous People Sightings

Mr. Heckles - Yes it's true. For those "Friends" fans, the ornery neighbor was at my McDonald's Commercial Audition. You know the guy? Heckles: "I can hear you through the ceiling. My cats can't sleep." Rachel: "You don't even HAVE cats." Heckles: "I COULD have cats."

Wendle Josepher - This one may confuse a few people but she played, "Jennifer" on Roswell in the very first episode. She was the girlfriend of the couple that asks Liz if she's ever seen anything weird in Roswell and Liz shows them a fake alien picture. Then they see Liz get shot and they even make a reappearance in a later episode for the UFO convention. She's done many other well known show appearances too. IMDB her if you want to know what, I've already wasted too much type explaining.

Almost Sightings

No one. I think people are catching on that I get mad if I am close to someone famous and I don't realize it or see them so they are either avoiding me all together, or plopping themselves stright into my vision so I can't miss 'em.

(Or it could just be that I missed 'em.)

That's all I can think of at the moment, so until probably April, Have a great Marsh, I mean "March."

Single's Awareness Day (AKA - Valentine's Day)

SO another day, another holiday down here in LA. The weather is being finicky, it can't seem to make up their mind whether to rain, or be sunny, or just be cold. But on a happier note to most, Valentine's Day is tomorrow? What does that mean? Well here's a few things I came up with...

(Call it my TOP 10 if you will...)

10. Traffic in LA for dinner time triples...(which is impressive considering it's LA after all.)

9. Hallmark and Nestle make a MINT and many people save money by shopping at the ever-stocked "Dollar Store"

8. Singles get bitter and depressed while couples get swooney and cute.

7. Men's wallets get lighter and waistbands gets larger. (You know...from the chocolate and stuff)

6. The most sappy and romantic "chick flicks" come out in the theaters, forcing resigned boyfriends and husbands to sit through movies they would rather NOT see, in order to make their gal's happy. (Although "Friday the 13th" is trying to help guys survive this with some gore.)

5. All TV channels, (especially cable,) start love movie/TV marathons to increase viewers and get everyone in the mood for L-O-V-E.

4. We get a day to indulge in Mythology, Romance, and Fantasy without feeling like we're nerds or hopeless delusionals. (You know...Cupid, Perfect Love, the ideal date sans the harsh world realities from the other 364 days, do I really need to explain this one?)

3. We start to see a lot of pink, white, and red as themes in: clothing, food, and product placement.

2. We hopefully take a minute to appreciate those loved ones in our lives that make our lives that much better.

AND THE NUMBER ONE THING THAT HAPPENS AROUND VALENTINE'S DAY IS...

1. We promise ourselves that next year, we will NOT eat so much chocolate. (Yeah right, good one.)

OK, ok, on a more serious note.

I take V-Day as a day to appreciate the different kinds of love in my life that I can be thankful for: My familial love, which is so great and deep from my parents, brother, and sisters. My friends who support me down here and who commiserate with me when things are crappy. And of course, my love from and for Jesus, who guides my feet and loves me when my family and friends aren't around. His love especially keeps me sane and makes me feel more special than any guy with the most romantic and best laid Valentine's Day plans.

And people ask why I am so Peppy...

For this Single's Awareness Day, I will actally be flying home to see the fam. We will be having a B-Day party for my Aunt Susie and a bit of a pity party for myself. Why do you ask? Well, the Reader's Digest version is that some things aren't going so well for me right this minute. Money is beyond tight, I seem to be at a standstill in moving my career upward, and still no theatrical agent. Plus, to top it all off, I lost my leather gloves and an orthodontist has said that I need to do the whole "ortho-braces-and everything else I did for 10 years thing" AGAIN. So yeah, not good. We'll see what happens with that and I will keep you updated. Until then, I am in Full Denial Mode.

In other happier news, I know now that my baby nephew has inherited my webbed toes from mommy, (yea us cool mutants!) and I finally own "Iron Man" on my iPod. (To you this may seem like nothing, but to me, AWESOMENESS.) I also still have my job at CBS, thank the Lord, when, in this economic time, a lot of people are unemployed. And of course, I am getting to go see my family for Valentine's, which is just plain swell.

TO WRAP UP...

I figured I would continue the "Sightings" and "Missed Sightings" I started on my last Blog.

SIGHTINGS:

Dakota Fanning - She goes to my church and did a Q & A when we had a "Secret Life of Bees" Screening. Whoo!

Hugh Dancy - The guy from "Ella Enchanted" who played Prince Charmont and who is coming out in "Confessions of a Shopaholic" as the cute boss. YEAH, not to brag but we went to the same Apple store to get our computers fixed and we were seated next to each other. I talked to him and ladies, he . is . HOT. Tee Hee.

Brian Stepanek - For those Disney Channel peeps, he played "Arwin" on "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody," as well as one of the guys with Ewan McGreggor in "The Island."

Craig Anton - Another Disney guy, "Lloyd" who plays Ricky Ulman's dad in "Phil of the Future". Yeah, he was auditioning for the Commercial next to mine. SWEET.

MISSED SIGHTINGS:

Amanda Bynes - Yeah, this is actually an older missed sighting that I had but forgot to include. My MOM actually saw her when we were in the ALDO shoe store shopping, and she didn't want to draw attention. However, nudging me wouldn't have make a huge deal so I am sad about this one. (It's TRUE mom, but I love you anyway!)

Well that is enough for today, and my love to all those singles out there this weekend.

(Yeah, couples don't need my love as much, OK?)

-Emily... To recap: I moved down to LA to pursue acting, (and I have been working at CBS in the meantime) while I pursue parts. I have found a wonderful church, Bel Air Pres, with many fun and talented people. I am currently in a great Bible Study which gives me a solid base in this crazy city of rushing around. On Tuesdays I go to my wonderful acting class to practice my craft, and while I learn great acting lessons and stretch my instrument, the people in the class itself are becoming like a second family to me. With all the work for both auditioning, going to acting workshops, and pursuing the money to make rent, I am a little tired most of the time but,... onward...ALWAYS ONWARD! :)

In the realm of acting results, I have been blessed enough to book one major commercial for a European company: (Orange), received all three of my SAG vouchers so now I am SAG Eligible, retained a commercial agent, and booked several student films. I also have had some fun doing some background work so I could be on shows such as "Samantha Who," and "Private Practice." Mostly just for bragging rights. In other fun but not important news, some famous people sightings that I have either seen or talked to:

Elijah Kelly - Seaweed from "Hairspray"
Taye Diggs,
Amy Brenneman,
Kate Walsh,
Chris Lowell - Private Practice
John Cusack - Gross Pointe Blank
Mark Harmon - NCIS "Jethro Gibbs"
Wanda - Heaven on Earth or stand up
Simon Cowell,
Paula Abdul,
Randy Jackson - American Idol
Lance Bass
& Jeff Foxforthy. (NO Dad, I did not get a chance to tell him about our family or my JF impressions.)

And I'm sure there are a few other sightings I've forgotten.

Some people that I was THIS CLOSE TO but didn't see because of bad timing:

John Krasinski (Yes sisters, it's true. ARG!)
Ewan McGreggor
Tom Hanks
Hugh Laurie
John Stamos

*Siiiigh* Oh well, another time...

I miss my family a lot, (Hi you guys!) and I am trying my hardest to move my acting career and my friendships here in LA forward.

Sending out my love to all in the form of HUGS and a special kiss to my new nephew Judah!

Love Emily
